When it comes to interior design trends, the Summer of 2017 has been one to remember. Not only has it brought back many design choices from the past, but also paved the way for new trends expected this fall. We understand how important it is for your home to stand out, and we’re here to help provide you with a well-crafted new dream home, inside and out. To make your house truly feel stylish and cozy, we’ve compiled some of Fall’s hottest interior design trends that you can incorporate into your new home’s decor.
With unique texture ideas becoming increasingly popular for designers, there are more and more creative ways to add more character to your home. Recently, wicker baskets and woven textiles have emerged as two of the most popular textiles to incorporate in the home. Decor like this comes at a low cost and can be both practical and beautiful. Use items like woven baskets as a crafty storage piece that also add natural and organic beauty to your home.
Warm Metal Tones
Bronze, rose gold, and other warm metals have been trending this summer, which indicates we can look forward to other warmer metals in the fall. One metal that has already taken the lead is brass. Brass is a beautiful, standout metal that pairs well with a wide variety of furnishings. Lately, it has been used in accents or incorporated with marble countertops to create a unique and glamorous look. With something as timeless as brass, you can’t go wrong when using this elegant metal to decorate your home.
Long before 2017, one design choice that has continued to be popular are white or light colored rooms. The fall season brings a whole palette of earthy tones, and to no surprise, people love to incorporate these colors into their homes. Earth tones compliment wood floors and are also great at making a room feel cozy and warm, perfect for master bedrooms and living rooms.
Lighting the Way
One of the first features many guests will notice when entering your home is the lighting. This fall, you can expect to see an increase in the use of more aesthetic lighting. A custom-looking light fixture shows off your unique design sensibility while making for a great conversation starter. Whether it’s a set of luxury bedside lamps or distinctive kitchen pendants, upgraded light fixtures are sure to brighten up your home’s interior design.

Moving into a new home before the next school season begins can be an exciting and new experience for families and students. However, if you’re not prepared, the new school year can be harder than it should be. Most of you have probably familiarized yourself with school routines and are well prepared for the upcoming back to school season. So doing the same thing in a new home will be a breeze. With the first week of school being right around the corner, there’s no better time to organize your new Sharp Residential home for all of the papers, school supplies, and projects that will be coming home soon. To make the transition a bit easier we’ve compiled a list of simple and cost effective tips that will make your child’s transition back to school in a new home a little easier.
Maximize Your New Space
If you have recently purchased one of our exceptional homes, there is a ton of space for you to use during the school year. It’s important to keep your new home efficiently organized to avoid clutter. Instead of finding school bags and supplies everywhere, install a set of cubbies for your child to drop their stuff into when they get home. One of the most important things is to make sure they have a familiar and comfortable workplace, luckily several of our floorplans include them. This makes establishing a homework/ home office space much easier for you and your child. Even having a simple designated phone charging area can reap many benefits when it’s time for you and your family to put down your devices and spend quality time together.
New Season, Similar Routines
During the summer, sleep schedules are usually thrown out the window which makes it difficult to adjust to a new one. Consider how old your child is and how much sleep they need to be getting so they can always be well rested and ready to learn. To make the first day back to school easier for them, start getting them up earlier by reeling in bedtime the week before. To make the school mornings easier, help them organize their school stuff (backpacks, lunches, supplies) and pick out clothes to wear the night before.
Explore the Neighborhood Together
As we stated, moving into a new area is typically exciting for most but can be occasionally stressful for some. If your student is a bit nervous, they’ll likely feel more comfortable and begin to enjoy it more as soon as they start exploring around the area with you. When it comes to discovering more about your child’s school and the neighborhoods around it, one of the first things you should learn are the bus routes. Once you know them, you can plan your family’s daily departure schedules accordingly. Also, take the time to visit the new school and meet your child’s teachers to learn more about them and talk about your child’s needs.
Back to School Shopping
We all know how busy stores can be during the back-to-school season. To get everything you need without breaking the bank, look out for back-to-school sales at your local stores so you can quickly get what you need at an affordable price. Setting a budget is a good idea so you don’t end up spending too much money on things they don’t really need until their teacher gives them more specifics. If you would rather avoid the crowd entirely, then you can typically order most supplies online. Not only does this get everything done without having to leave the comfort of your home, you and your family will have more quality time to spend together before school starts. We wish you all the best in your new home and we hope you have a great school year.

Freedom is America’s most treasured value and there’s no better day that recognizes this than the 4th of July. On Independence Day, we fill the night sky with fireworks; the smell of barbeque is in the air, and you can’t help but feel the patriotism all around.
At Sharp Residential we think it’s important for our residents to be able to experience this holiday in it’s entirety, so we put together a list of a few events that we hope you’ll be able to attend this year.
Food Fireworks and Fun

Starting at 6 p.m. there will be a live musical performance by the Alpharetta City Band where they will be playing patriotic tunes followed by T James Bond with his performance of Classic Rock. Throughout the event there will be several food vendors that will be serving things such as mediterranean style dishes, firewood pizza, tacos, ice cream, old fashioned lemonade and more! The event concludes with a jaw-dropping fireworks display and is a perfect way to end your Fourth of July celebration.
Make your way to Roswell High School this Fourth of July for the 18th annual Roswell Fireworks Extravaganza. This wonderful Roswell tradition is a great family event that will kick off at 5:30 with giant inflatables, carnival games with prizes and several different food trucks including Big C’s Chicago kitchen, Cattywampus, Yumbii and Aurora Complex. There will also be live musical performances by The 120 East Band and Banks and Shane. The event wraps up with the famed fireworks extravaganza so bring your picnic blankets and chairs to experience the night of a lifetime.
4th of July Parade
What better way to celebrate the Fourth of July than a parade, festival, and fireworks. On Independence Day attend the City of Woodstock’s July 4th Spectacular. Starting at 10 a.m. there will be a parade that goes from the Woodstock Elementary School to Sam’s Club near Highway 92. After the parade you can attend the festival which will have a DJ, great food, arts & crafts, kids activities and more! Finally at dusk, you can watch an amazing fireworks display to perfectly end the night.
Steam engine parade and dance contest
On July 3rd, make your way down to the Cumming Fairgrounds for an Independence Day celebration like no other. Starting at 6:00 P.M. there will be food vendors and children’s activities followed by a dance contest at 8:30 P.M. Finally, at 9:30 P.M. there will be fireworks to watch until 11:00 P.M. Admission and parking is free for this event making it perfect for everyone.
From Sharp Residential, we wish you a very happy and safe Fourth of July.

Memorial Day weekend plans? We understand that it’s certainly a great time to fire up your grill and enjoy some quality time with family and friends, but don’t forget to respectfully remember why it’s called Memorial Day. This year, you and your family can begin the pre-summer season with several different Memorial Day events and commemorative ceremonies around North Atlanta. Monday is the special day where we, as a nation, honor the sacrifice of America’s fallen soldiers. Remember to greet any and all military service personnel by thanking them for their service. It’s easy to show your support this Memorial Day weekend with Memorial Day ceremonies around the Northern Atlanta area and here are a few of them.
On May 30th from 10:00-11:00 am, the city of Milton is holding its ninth annual Memorial Day ceremony. Speaker Lieutenant General James Helmly, a decorated Vietnam veteran who is also Chief of the Army Reserve, will lead the ceremony. General James Helmly was responsible for the mobilization of 147,000 Army Reserve soldiers in support of the global war on terror and has been inducted into the Infantry Hall of Fame. It’s important to be a part of your community on this very special day and there’s no better way than to attend a Memorial Day ceremony. Stop by our new WestFall community if you’re looking for a wonderful place to buy a new home this Spring or Summer.
The Alpharetta City Hall will hold a Memorial Day tribute on May 29th. Starting at 9:00, the program includes the singing of the national anthem, the Pledge of Allegiance, a Keynote Speaker, Laying of the Wreath, a 21 Gun Salute, and most importantly “Taps” performed by Alpharetta High School junior, Daniel Gelber. New homebuyers should see our established luxury community named Hearthstone while you’re in the area.
Join the American Legion, Marine Corps League, and other local veterans groups to honor those who fight to keep us free. On Memorial Day join local veteran groups for a special service of remembrance in The Park at City Center. There will also be an appearance and performance of the Cobb New Horizons Concert Band which will make this ceremony even more heartfelt and meaningful. We have two communities nearby if you and your family are in the market for a new home. Visit Olde Heritage or Harmony on the Lakes this weekend.
Thankful For Their Sacrifice
Memorial Day is the time for us take a few minutes out of our lives to appreciate and thank our armed forces for everything they do and have done to protect us. If it weren’t for the armed troops protecting the land we hold dear, we wouldn’t be able to provide you and your family with our quality, custom built homes. Whatever you find yourself doing this Memorial Day weekend, we hope you remain safe and happy. From all of us at Sharp Residential, we remain thankful and respectfully honor the lives of those who sacrificed all in their service to America. Thank you!

Mother’s Day is Sunday and we want to celebrate all the mothers in our communities by sharing a few things about how this wonderful holiday began, plus what it means to us. Mothers and motherly figures are often considered the most important people in each of our lives. The Mother’s Day we know today is very different than how and why it originally began. We wanted to share a few thoughts because we feel it’s important for everyone to know the history of this loving holiday.
Mother’s Day Beginnings
Making sure that all Moms get a break on their day to show much they are appreciated is what the current goal of Mother’s Day is currently all about, but that’s not how it started. While Mother’s Day is celebrated in different ways around the world, here in the United States, we have two women to thank for the Mother’s Day we know and love today. In 1870 Julia Ward Howe saw the brutal, harsh realities of post-Civil War America and wished to unify a nation of grieving mothers. She pleaded for women around the world to come together and recognize the things they have in common with her Mother’s Day Proclamation.
Mother’s Day For Her
Then in the early 1900’s Anna Jarvis picked up where Mrs. Howe left off by pushing for what has become the modern version of Mother’s Day. When Anna Jarvis was younger her mother told her about how she wished for a day to recognize all the hard work mothers do around the world. Upon her mother’s death in 1905 Anna Jarvis wanted to make her mother’s wish a reality and during the anniversaries of her mother’s death she would give out carnations, her mother’s favorite flower. She gained support from a Philadelphia philanthropist named John Wanamaker and in 1910 they were able to make West Virginia the first state to officially recognize Mother’s Day. Four years later Anna Jarvis was able to convince the US Congress to officially recognize the second Sunday in May, as the national holiday of known as Mother’s Day.
Different Visions, Honorable Goals
Julia Ward Howe and Anna Jarvis had different visions for a Mother’s day. Julia Ward Howe wished for a day where all mothers would be recognized for the hard work they do while Anna Jarvis wanted people to appreciate the best mother they’ve ever known. Both of these visionary women worked hard to make this holiday a reality and it’s important for us to not only appreciate all mothers but also to applaud the effort of these two women. Keep the American tradition of Mother’s Day alive by the simple gesture of giving a carnation to your Mother or the maternal figure in your life.
Thank You Mom
We hope that you get to spend this Sunday with your Mom. Remember to tell her how much she means to you on her special day. From all of us at Sharp Residential, we want to say thanks to all of our Moms and wish every one of them a Happy Mother’s Day.
