It’s the middle of July, which means August and the start of the school year are right around the corner. Before the kids head back to school, we encourage you to make the most of these last few weeks of summer. Here are 4 family friendly North Fulton County summer activities to take advantage of before the start of school.

Activities and Entertainment at Avalon

Avalon is a hub for many great local activities in Alpharetta. In addition to shopping and dining, you’ll also find a variety of events and entertainment here for the whole family. Every Tuesday, you can bring your preschooler to Avalon for their Little Acorns program. From 10:00 am – 12:00 pm, they will enjoy a variety of activities such as story time, face painting visits from their favorite characters, and more. Then on Friday night, you can bring the whole family to Avalon for Avalon Nights Live. Here you can sing and dance the night away to live music from Atlanta area artists.

History Walk-Through at the Roswell Fire Museum

The Roswell Fire Museum is open every day from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The museum houses several historical artifacts that help tell the history of the Roswell Volunteer Fire Department. One of the artifacts you will see at the museum is a 1947 Ford American LaFrance Pumper. The museum also has a firetruck that you can explore during your visit.

Outdoor Fun at Old Mill Park

Located in Roswell, Old Mill Park is the perfect place to spend a fun-filled day outdoors. Here you can walk the trails to the waterfall created from the damming of Vickery Creek. Similarly, you can walk across the covered bridge and view the ruins of the only mill building to survive the Civil War. There are also several spots along the trails ideal for taking a break and enjoying a picnic.

Roswell Summer Puppet Series

Next week is the last week of the Summer Puppet Series at the Cultural Arts Center. Shows take place every day of the week at a cost of $5 per person. The show “Cardboard Explosion!” finishes out their summer rotation.
